How to go to the World Heritage Island MIYAJIMA by Ferry

We have introduced 3 ways going to MIYAJIMA from Guesthouse akicafe inn before, other than the “World Heritage Sea Route” departing near the Atomic Bomb Dome, going by JR or Streetcar needed to be transited at MIYAJIMAGUCHI by ferry.
Today we are going to talk about the two ferry companies bound for MIYAJIMA, JR WEST MIYAJIMA FERRY and MIYAJIMA MATSUDAI FERRIES.

Features of JR WEST MIYAJIMA FERRY
The greatest feature of JR WEST MIYAJIMA FERRY is, the route heading to MIYAJIMA is passing the O-torii Gate of Itsukushima Shrine which stands in the sea.
If you want to take a great picture on the sea, please go to the seat on right hand side.
In warm season, enjoying the sea breeze on 2nd floor outdoor bench and 3rd floor observatory on the way to MIYAJIMA is strongly recommended.
Another feature of JR WEST MIYAJIMA FERRY is that they are departing at 06:00 and 22:00 which is not provided by MIYAJIMA MATSUDAI FERRIES.
Going MIYAJIMA in early morning when there’re still not many tourists, fully enjoy MIYAJIMA like the Itsukushima Shrine and going around the other sightseeing spots in HIROSHIMA, taking JR WEST MIYAJIMA FERRY will be a nice choice.

Features of MIYAJIMA MATSUDAI FERRIES
MIYAJIMA MATSUDAI FERRIES is operated by HIROSHIMA ELECTRIC RAILWAY, which also running the streetcar and the MIYAJIMA Ropeway. They offer a [1 Day Streetcar and Ferry Pass], for adults is JPY900 and for children is JPY450. Although there is no difference for round trip for adults by taking streetcar and ferry, but for children the fare will be JPY10 cheaper.
Moreover, the pass is including unlimited rides by streetcar and ferry, if you are planning to visit the spots on the way from HIROSHIMA City to MIYAJIMA in one day, the [1 Day Streetcar and Ferry Pass] will definitely suit your needs.
In addition, if you need to take the ropeway in MIYAJIMA, showing the [1 Day Streetcar and Ferry Pass] when buying ticket in MIYAJIMA Ropeway MOMIJIDANI Station, round trip fee for adults will be discounted as JPY1,350 which originally costed JPY1,840 which is JPY490 cheaper!
For children, the fare will be discounted as JPY700 which originally costed JPY920 and that is JPY220 cheaper! (As at April 2020)
